Wind Power Basics

Wind - Electric Systems Simplified

How Much Power Do I Use?

1. Can I use a small wind turbine to power my house?

There are 2 options, grid connect and off-grid systems.

  • Where grid connect systems are available, wind turbines will supplement your power needs.
  • Off-grid systems are used where no electrical grid is available.

2. What information do I need to become energy self sufficient?

  • Your daily energy usage
  • An analysis of the alternative energy sources available in your area (WE can assist you in this assessment)

3. How do I achieve the most cost effective solution?

Most often the best solution is achieved by a combination of energy solutions such as:

  • A wind turbine to power a battery bank providing electricity for lighting, computers and other low drainage appliances
  • Solar water heater
  • Gas for stoves, heating and fridges

4. How much energy do my appliances use?

Please refer to the table below for energy usage of appliances.

Your choices - Wind and Solar energy

Let's compare

So you want to install some renewable energy for your business or home and have come to the crossroad as to which is better, wind power or solar power?

Both wind power and solar power have been around for a long time now and both renewable energy sources have successfully been used to produce clean electricity for home and commercial users. But which renewable energy source is the best for you ?
